Was that the game on a streaming service we don't get? If that happens with a game I care about, I will be very put out.

NBC is attemping to increase subscribers to Peacock so they paid $110 million to the NFL for the exclusive rights to one of wild card games. They hope that people will sign up to catch the game and stick around and not immediately cancel.2,000 milerThe post was edited 1 time, last by max.patch ().

In Sunday's Lions game, Tampa Bay was down by 14 pts near the end of the game. They scored a TD with a few minutes to play. There has been much discussion of their decision to go for the 2 pt try rather than kick a PAT. I have seen people argue both sides, so I thought I would crunch the numbers (As I tend to do).
The premise: You are down 14 points with a few minutes to play in regulation. The most likely positive outcome is to score a TD, get a defensive stop, and score another TD at the end of regulation. Assuming this is what will happen, you have two choices, play to tie or win at the end of regulation. For this analysis I used the figures of 46% and 95% success rates for 2 and 1 pt conversions (Googled from the interweb).
If you play to tie, the only smart choice is to kick two PATs. This gives you a 93% chance of a tie and 7% chance of losing but zero chance of winning at the end of regulation.
But if you want to play to win, there are two options - go for two after the first or second TD. Surprisingly, it turns out the probabilities are quite different.
If you kick a PAT after the first TD and miss, you have no choice but to go for a 2 pt try after the 2nd TD to get a tie. But if you make the first PAT, you go for 2 after the 2nd TD to win. In this scenario, your odds of win/tie/loss are 44/2/54.
But if you go for the 2 pt try after the first TD and are successful, you only have to kick a PAT for a win after the 2nd TD. But if you miss the 2 pt try, you have no choice but to do another 2 pt try after the second TD to play for a tie. In this scenario, your odds of win/tie/loss are 44/27/29.
So when playing to give yourself a chance to win, the odds of winning are the same for doing the 2 pt try after the first or second TD, but the odds of losing are 25% lower if you do the 2 pt try first. As for deciding if you should go for the win or loss, going for the win increases your chance of losing by 22% but increases your chance of winning by 44%. -

No sense wasting time watching the Super Bowl this year.
The NFL has rigged it, the fix is in, and Kansas City wins.
At least that's what the MAGA people are saying.

throwback...Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.
