I can't tell what that is , kinda looks like rabbit fur, I see that once in a while when a raptor has grabbed one. I also have been seeing a lot of coyote hair on the trail.
I figured something got eaten. The fur was really soft and didn't smell.Lost in the right direction. -

Took about 200 pictures of these things. It is hard to get a picture of a fat robin in a sailboat with 8 foot swells when the fat robin is skittish. I was using a 250mm lens. You had to time the rolls and try not to fall off the bow while taking the shot.Non hikers are about a psi shy of a legal ball. -

nice porky. I saw this one just hanging out in the middle of the trail on Overlook Mountain in the Catskills.

And - this was only a few of the snakes that were basking on Windham High Peak.

In the Huron NF we ran across a bazillion Tiger Swallowtails. Someone had spilled a can of Sprite by the road and they were having a feeding frenzy.
On that same trip, nearby, I saw this cool frog.
On North Manitou Island (part of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore), we were backpacking and I saw this Hawk in the woods, maybe 10 yards from the trail. Instead of flying away, he extended his right wink and hissed at me. I assume he was protecting his dinner, but I couldn't see anything in the leaf litter. sorry for the pic quality here. The canopy was quite dense and there wasn't much light. -

That is a little or least. It is least likely a little. There is little or no chance of a little over here. Although it only looks a little like a least to me. At least you saw a least. How big was this big bad bittern? It does not look quite right. Anyone else have some bitter bittern banter?Non hikers are about a psi shy of a legal ball. -

Then you are in the wrong country. Little is in Europe and least is in North America.

That part looks normal. They look like 2 different birds with their neck in or out. What is puzzling me is the black on his neck. That should not be there. It must be a weird angle.Non hikers are about a psi shy of a legal ball. -
Could be a Yellow Crowned Night Heron. I have never seen one of those. Did it have a long thin tuft stretching from the top of his head going backwards when he extended his neck?Non hikers are about a psi shy of a legal ball.

The 4th one is a Chachalaca - maybe the most fun bird name to say.

One evening a couple of years ago my wife Kathy took our dog for a walk in the evening.
When she got home she was all excited and showed me the body of a dead, perfectly intact Merlin. It was quite beautiful and I had the thought to get it stuffed. I took it to one place, and called some others but no-one would touch it. Evidently it's illegal to have a Merlin, dead or alive in NY. Too bad really, I'm sure the bird must have died from natural causes as not even one feather was out of place. To this day I feel like we lost out on something beautiful. -

Here's some wild I saw 4/11/14 to 4/13/14. The date thing on my camera is wrong.
Wood Pecker. You have to look close to see him. I also saw a big redheaded pilated one but he kept going on the other side of the tree from from me and I gave up trying to get his picture. I also flushed a beautiful grouse that lit on a limb 20 ft about me, but then flew as I was getting him into focus.

Well we hope to meet you one day too. Soon we hope. Possibly as early as Trail Days. But that's not our boat. That's U.S. Customs boat docked next to the one we were going out on. This one here.

We used to be able to outrun them back in the 70's when all they had was junk. Can't do it anymore.Changes Daily→ ♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫ ♪♫♪♫♪♫ ← Don't blame me. It's That Lonesome Guitar. -
