Saw these in the store in FL when shopping. Might be good for you people that do FB cooking Only 460 calories per 4.1 Oz pack though.

funny you should post this, I had a hour to kill picking my daughter up from a function and went into a grocery store looking for Knorr white cream sauce that Rasty recommended for a corn chowder i'd like to make for the trail, unfortunately they did not have it...this is about the third store i've looked at. I think when I find some...if tastes good and it works out should prolly buy a few.

PS I love me some alfredo

They weren't bad but the packaging is very bulky considering the size of the portions

I found them a few weeks ago in Kroger, I think they're pretty good.

I never bring the original packaging. It's going into a freezer bag eventually. Why bring the extra trash?

I've tried a few of those just a little while back. Put them in a freezer bag in a cozy. I found that I have to use at least a ½ cup less water (sometimes more) or they are a little too soupy for me. It only figures because cooking them on a stove top you have a certain amount of evaporation. In a freezer bag in a cozy you have none. Same deal with the Knorr's. I have to use less water.

Many advantages to freezer bag cooking and that is one of them. Not only are you cooking less time, but you are heating less water to begin with.

What I found out was, whatever the food, just barely cover it with water and then a tad bit more.

112 gms

I was disappointed. The heat was perfect but the tomatoes, peppers, and jalapeños left me feeling like I was going to have a bad case of indigestion.

I agree. I'd probably love it without the peppers.

I saw salmon jerky at Trader Joe's this afternoon. Has anyone tried it? I couldn't bring myself to buy it, it sounds disgusting.

I will go pick some up - cant imagine why you have a dehydrator and have issues with drying meat.

It's probably because beef is expensive so I don't experiment enough. The salmon doesn't sound appetizing though. I love fish but...

Fat has quite a bit of water and it "renders" so yes it does work... "think Pemmican"

Salmon Jerky, OK TJ I bought some The cute woman at the desk say that its an acquired taste and it does sell and they have a "flavor" guarantee if you don't like it - you can return it.

Right after you open the package, the smell is umm what?.... ummm well only a American Indian could love as it appears to be a traditional food.- but its soaked in brine, brown sugar, molasses, sea salt, and a touch of Maple. Its not sticky or icky and has a clean flavor and chews like a tough gummy bear.

Turns out this is what got Patagonia off the ground in sales.
