Great Cast. Gene Wilder, Scatman Crothers stealing scenes, Jill Clayburgh, Patrick McGoohan ultimate sinister ruthless badguy, Ned Beatty as the Vitamin salesman talking about scoring with the ladies, but he's an undercover cop, Clifton James as the sheriff stealing scenes (Don't Shoot!), and Ray Walson NOT playing "Aloha Mr. Hand"....And don't overlook Fred Willard and Richard Kiel.Astro wrote:
Silver Streak great classic movie. Love the line where Richard Pryor introduces himself as "I'm a thief".

Since we're jumping into the wayback machine, my wife and I are watching 'Soap' on DVD. Groundbreaking what that show did back in 1977.

There are some decent movies. But lately it seems all special effects and CGI. To para-phrase Joe Bob Briggs (The drive in movie critic of Grapevine Texas), "200 Explosions, 18 and a half breast (counting Arnold), 9 car chases, 4 zombies, no talkie-talk plot getting in the way of the mayhem".Pirating – Corporate Takeover without the paperwork -

Along with Silver Streak in the "inter-racial odd-couple buddies ally with femme fatale to battle the rich and powerful bad guys" movie category is Trading Places.

Sticking with the year 1977, I just heard that M. Emmet Walsh passed away. He had a bit part as sports writer Dickie Dunn in the movie Slapshot (1977).

I don't think I ever got around to seeing The Jerk. My favorite Steve Martin film is LA Story.

I met Paul Newman when he was participating in a weekend SCCA race at Pocono Raceway in the early 70's. My cousin was a race official so we had pit passes. The rest of the participants showed up with cars on open trailers, small box trailers, or in the back of converted school buses. Paul had a semi with a spare race car and was fully sponsored by Datsun. He was pretty cool and willing to talk racing while he hung out in the infield bleachers during other division races.
