ALDHA Gathering - 2022

Is anyone else attending the ALDHA Gathering Oct 8th and 9th in Williamsburg MA? After a decade of making excuses, this is the first one I'll be attending and I'm kind of excited about it. Looking forward to seeing some of you there.

I have a wedding to go to in PA that weekend, otherwise I would have loved to join you.

What is this? First you blow off our annual meetup trip just because the forecast called for lows of -7°f plus 20mph windchill, and now you blow off a hiker meetup just because you have a wedding to attend?! Ridiculous!

This may sound odd but our dog is too debilitated to leave with someone else. So no Kathy and I can't go unless our pup passes

Sadly I find that far too relatable. We had to put down Stella, our 15 year old German Wirehair Pointer (see profile pic) three weeks ago.

For the past couple of years the only reason we were able to travel was that we are lucky enough to have a close friend who is a former vet tech and was able to safely watch out elderly dogs while we were out of town.

I will be up there late Friday morning, probably will be working on the registration desk with Sly.
I'm also running for Board Member at Large.
I have a few days off, will probably hike for a few days in Vermont afterwards, maybe head up to The Lookout.
Elf, Do you know where the camping area is?

I know nothing about the gathering beyond what you posted. I figured I's just show up and you or one of the Billvillians would point me in the right direction.

The camping, parking and registration area is a few miles out of town. I posted links above for the map and directions

I'd go but the walk from the campground to the activities is way too far.

Thee will be plenty of people that can give you a ride. Or you can stay in Williamstown.

I really wasn't going to run, but they asked me if I was interested.I was worried about being able to keep commitments as a board member because of possible work conflicts, but Dennis Newton, the current ALDHA director told me not to worry about it, he wants me on the board. I helped him with one of the OUTREACH feeds in Fahnestock state park this year, did it last year at RPH Cabin, too. If you're an ALDHA member, you can cast your vote on the website. I'm not sure what day voting opens up, maybe as early as tomorrow. I only decided a few days ago.

ALDA is one of those things where sometimes we're members and sometimes we're not. It all depends if we remember to renew our membership or not. I think that right now we are not members.
