I've reached the age where many of the musicians I loved growing up have passed on. I've always been a fan of folk music. This has been a tough year. Nanci Griffith, Jerry Jeff Walker, and now today I heard Bill Staines died last week.
Most probably have not heard of Bill, but he was a New England treasure. I saw him at least a dozen times in various coffeehouses. I was to see him again tonight in a nearby town, and I went to look up the start time that is when I learned that his guitar is now silent. RIP Bill Staines.
