Buried in the Covid Relief Bill passed by congress late yesterday is a provision to rebrand the New River Gorge National River as a National Park and Preserve, making it the 63rd NP in the NPS, the first in WV, the 15th in the eastern US, an the 23rd I have been to (I was there last May!). Funds were also allocated for some property acquisition.
