The Top of Georgia Hostel closed at the end of last years hiking season (not corona virus related) and remained closed this year. You may recall that the hostel was started by Bob Gabrielson AKA Sir Packs A Lot who was a somewhat controversial figure.

The hostel was sold and will reopen under new ownership and will be known as the Hostel Around The Bend. The hostel is 1/2 mile from Dicks Creeks Gap at mile 70 (last place to stay near the trail before you reach NC. It appears the owners will be renting the place out in the hiking off season thru Airbnb ($150 a night at present).

This is a great place for a hostel and I hope they are more successful than TOG was.

I think our friends from Long Island will feel right at home when they arrive at the Hostel Around the Bend in Georgia (short walk from Dicks Creek Gap mile 70).

I believe the plan is to primarily use this for trail magic. They have a more reliable van for shuttle use.
