ATC Recommendation -- Start Your Thru Hike At Amicalola Falls State Park

i believe the southern terminus of the appalachian trail should be changed to amicalola falls state park for several reasons.

and while the ATC isn't quite ready to endorse my opinion, they are recommending that thru hikers begin their hike at AFSP rather than at springer mountain.

I guess I better finish this Summer before they change the rules.

I do not plan to do it someday, perhaps even as part of a future thru hike, but right now I am just focused on completing this section hike.

really just an opinion. notice it's listed under "community" menu. no need to hike the approach trail, unless you want to.

i realize that it is a recommendation and not a requirement -- but my title may have been misleading so i edited it for clarity.
