Somehow this one seems appropriate:
In case you are not familiar, Tom Lehrer was a Harvard math professor who back in the late 50's and early 60's wrote humorous and satirical songs, many about current (for the time) political issues. This one was about the German Rocket Scientist Wernher von Braun who worked on the V1 and V2 rocket weapons for the Nazis during WWII. There was a bit of a scandal when it was discovered that he was brought to the US to help with the US space program. -
So now here's a question. If a big chunk of space junk lands in my back yard, do I get to keep it and if so, would it potentially be worth a lot of money. Then I wonder, which odds are better? Having a valuable piece of space junk land in my backyard or winning the 500 million dollar lottery, assuming I buy one ticket.

i have a normal sized backyard where i live; 100 feet by 100 feet, which works out to 10,000 square feet.
the earth is 197,000,000 square miles (or 5.5 quadrillion square feet).
the odds of a piece of space junk falling in my back yard is 1 in 548,000,000,000 (rounded to the nearest billion).
the odds of winning the power ball are actually pretty good at 1 in 292,000,000 (rounded to the nearest million).
those with smaller or larger back yards need to adjust accordingly.

This object is expected to decay around Sun, 01/04/2018 14:28:00 +/- 12 hours UTC (these predictions are provided by Joseph Remis). They changed the passes over Philadelphia based on changes to the orbit last opportunity to see it in daylight 5:38- 5:42 Saturday! It will be a Southern pass from West to East in broad daylight about 40° Acquire by watching Southwest.Be wise enough to walk away from the nonsense around you!

As I got up this morning it is in the Atmosphere drag at 102 miles up and no longer visible to the naked eye. It will break apart into three or four big pieces by Sunday. The Saturday 5pm pass was scrubbed.Be wise enough to walk away from the nonsense around you!

We have a winner!

Max Patch!
Max, PM me your mailing information and you should have your celebratory brew in a week or two.
In an interesting twist when Tiangong 1 fell near Tahiti it was already tomorrow since it is on the other side of the International Dateline (April 2nd). Unfortunately for LI Hikers the 20 pages of legal fine print that I never posted that said the contest would be judged based on Eastern Time. Sorry LI Hikers
I wish OzJacko was still around because if he had picked the 2nd he would have had a compelling case that might have gone to the supreme court.“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,
