Mostly Houston Astros World Champion T-Shirts (4 for me and several more for my sons), DVDs (one with 22.5 hours of the entire World Series), and books. I figured if I invested in it like it would never happen again (hey it took 55 years), then maybe it would increase the chances of a repeat.
For the first time since I started on the AT with my youngest son at Thanksgiving 2010, no hiking gear. But I did just pay the Physical Therapist bill, which I hope will be the best hiking related investment I have ever made. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

My youngun thought I needed something better than a plastic bag for my money and ID so she got me a multi tool/credit card holder. She's so sweet and thoughtful, I will carry it no matter how much it weighs.Lost in the right direction.

I got the flu. Oh goody.
Patents gave me a 100$ bill. I need to buy a battery power bank for recharging devices. Also, there's a new edition of the McGuinnis guide to trekking in the Mt Everest region coming out. This trip is on my bucket list. -

I literally had it in my cart when she called me and said she was going to use her 20% off coupon to buy a tent. I gently suggested that it was a better time of year to look for a sleeping bag.Trudgin' along the AT since 2003. Completed Sections: Springer Mountain to Clingmans Dome and Max Patch NC to Gorham NH

So, what hiking, camping items did Santa and his elves leave at your house for you?
I got exactly what I needed, nothing, and I'm happy about it.

I got my annual local pack shop gift card from my son. I traded it for a North face fleece lined vest. Which I’m sure will be in the MLK VI photos. I like vests in winter, my olive oil based skin is too warm for walking in a jacket. I have 2 just fleece ones, but one is old and the other has a Ginmill emblem on the breast pocket. It is very comfortable, I just don’t what people thinking I sponsor a ginmill.Cheesecake> Ramen

I got an Aeropress and a puffy vest.
Honestly pods are expensive, thinking of getting a percolator for the weekends when we’re all drinking coffee all day long. -

I used to have a 2 cup aluminum percolator that I carried, but I lost the guts to it. Now I have a 3 cup titanium press in it's place. The aeropress works great, but it's use away from the comforts of a truck/camp/office are limited; it's light, but it only serves one purpose. At least my french press can be used to heat water for cooking and for making coffee at the same time.If your Doctor is a tree, you're on acid.
