It was a typical Christmas for me; stress, gluttony, some family drama, and sadness...as well as laughter, family, and fun. Thank goodness it's over.

One of my daughter's students, 8 yrs old, was in a house fire and is burned over 75% of her body. I doubt she will live.

Sad.

The local community lost a 75 year old woman who tirelessly walked 8 miles daily to and from her work. Folks offered her rides regularly, but she insisted upon walking. I saw her walking in snowstorms, rain, and 100* summer temps.

She was struck and killed while crossing an intersection. The driver claimed not to have seen her despite several other drivers stopping to allow her to cross safely.

Terrible.

The student is still alive as far as I know. She is one of my daughter's favorites...very sweet. Her goal over Christmas break was to read a chapter book each week.
