I guess on the upside, at least multiple AT hikers have found refuge in the restrooms during cold weather.
Although better planing probably should had them at one of the shelters with a fireplace. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

I had posted the story in the ALDHA group on FB, and some yahoo chimed in about "wokeism", until I had to point out the dozens of indian named lands, forests, streams he'd already traveled across,(Oh yeah-- Katahdin).I finally just deleted his comment.its all good

I'm taking out a student loan and moving to Texas!

<snip>
The University of Texas at Austin is giving students a chance to study Taylor Swift lyrics alongside works by such literary icons as Shakespeare, John Keats and yes, Robert Frost.
The school is offering an undergraduate course -- "The Taylor Swift Songbook" -- this fall as part of its liberal arts honors program. It comes on the heels of a Swift-themed class at New York University last spring that ended with the singer as the commencement speaker.
Students will study Swift's songs alongside the writings of Western literature greats.
"They'll be asked to analyze and contextualize common practices and problems across the centuries," Scala said.
"I want to take what Swift fans can already do at a sophisticated level, tease it out for them a bit with a different vocabulary, and then show them how, in fact, Swift draws on richer literary traditions in her songwriting, both topically but also formally in terms of how she uses references, metaphors, and clever manipulations of words," Scala said.
"I'll be showing students that these operations and interpretive moves one makes when reading her songs are appropriate to all forms of writing."2,000 miler -

It's crazy. The celebrities who "promoted" FTX via advertisments have deep pockets so of course someone is going to try to get into their bank accounts. Larry David, Tom Brady, Shaquille O'Neal, Steph Curry AND the entire Golden State franchise, and David Ortiz among others.
Consumer finance guy Clark Howard said that the celebs were paid in crypto, so not only have they lost this money, but their reputations have now taken a ding.
On Shark Tank Mark Cuban once told an entrepreneur "I like you, I like your company, but your product has the potential for liability and since I'm the guy with the deep pockets they're going to come after me. And for that reason I'm out." Kevin O'Leary should have paid attention -- he's also named in the lawsuit.
Larry Bird is probably my favorite basketball player. But if he told me to drink Miller Lite becasue it tastes great and it's less filling -- I'd ignore him.2,000 miler -

lol, I didn't know MLB was feeding at the FTX trough. And they went all in -- not just one patch, but two.
Expect the umpires to look different next year.

Lol, the demand for tickets to Taylor Swift's upcoming tour was so great it broke Ticketmaster.
Ticketmaster said that for supply to equal demand she would have to do a concert every night for the next 2 1/2 years.

...meanwhile
Dutch scientists put a hamster wheel out in nature and found it was used by lots of wild animals. Curiously, the second most frequent users were the slugs. The authors conclude that "wheel running can be experienced as rewarding even without an associated food reward, suggesting the importance of motivational systems unrelated to foraging." In other words, like this collection of misfits, they like hiking. Perhaps, like me, they spend the winter walking on a treadmill to get in shape for the summer hiking season after letting themselves get out of shape during the holiday season.

NOTE: Usage statistics were based on time used, not revolutions. Otherwise the slugs be at a distinct disadvantage!

Today I learned that when mel brooks was invited to put his hand and foot prints in the walkway at Mann'a Chinese Theatre, he decided to have some fun with it and had a prosthetic extra finger added to his hand for the day, resulting in an eleven fingered print.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

OMO, there are some great comments about this story on the Internet.
Apparently the helicopter did not work to 'clean it up,' it just make it 'hairy.'“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,
