I've been on a bit of a Netflix binge lately, so maybe I will come back to this thread later to add more details.
Right now, I'm re-watching The Barkley Marathons.“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” - T. S. Eliot -
Best thing I watched lately was Foyle's War. Introduced to it by my wife, who likes British shows. Due to the detective, WW2 and eventually Cold War setting this one clicked with me too. Had to binge watch the first 8 or 9 seasons before they took it off at the beginning of the month. I believe they made 13 seasons, so hopefully they will soon add the last 4 or 5 seasons. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

But probably more accurate than Ron Shelton's Cobb which was supposed to be a biography (but full of lies and misrepresentations). The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

he also took money from tampa bay to go into the HOF as a devil ray because, of course, when you think of wade ya think of the devil rays. the HOF said WTF and changed the rule that the player gets to pick the cap he wears on his plaque.2,000 miler -
the die hard wade boogs fan can pick up a pair of the red panties wade asked margo to wear -- gotta open up the wallet for that one -- and don't forget to get one of the "don't trade wade for getting laid" bumper stickers that were out there.

i'm not gonna tell ya how they planned to get bottled water out of customs -- you'll learn that about halfway thru.

conversations with a killer: the ted bundy tapes
netflix documentary -- 100 hours of taped interviews on death row with ted bundy condensed into 4 episodes of close to an hour each.
growing up in florida i remember his murders at the sorority at florida state, but there was a whole lot that happened i earlier that i either didn't know or had forgotten with the passage of time. didn't know he escaped. twice.
not a date movie -- but extremely interesting.
edit to add: this is all photographs and old television recordings. no "actors". this is not the movie that premiered yesterday at sundance with zac effron paying a "sex symbol" version of bundy.2,000 milerThe post was edited 1 time, last by max.patch ().

i just finished watching the 10 episode series "dead to me" on netflix.
i'm not a "binge watcher" but over a 4 day period i watched this show on 3 evenings watching 4,3,3, episodes each night.
i'm just going to state the premise of the show and no more -- any more and i'd be giving out spoilers.
this show is about a woman (played by christina applegate -- famous for playing kelly bundy on married with children ) whose husband goes out for a run and is killed in a hit and run accident.
i thot this show was awesome.
edit to add: here's the trailer; it doesn't give anything away.

Watching Virgin River with my wife. Amazed at how old Henry Steele's tutor from One on One and Otter from Animal House have gotten. I guess the last 42 years might have aged me a little too.The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

For some reason sometimes part of Melanie Griffith's role is cut from broadcast TV. I've read more than once that movie was her first role -- but if you look at IMBD it isn't.2,000 miler -
Never thought I'd watch -- much less enjoy -- a documentary about competitive college cheerleading, but I did. If there's a second season I'll be back. "Cheer" on Netflix; 6 episodes of about an hour each. These kids would run thru a wall if their coach asked them too.
Here's the trailer:
The stakes on the mat are high, but for these cheerleaders, the only thing more brutal than their workouts and more exceptional than their performances are the stories of adversity and triumph behind the athletes themselves. Netflix’s new documentary series "Cheer" follows the competitive cheerleaders of the 14-time National Championship winning team at Navarro College in Corsicana, TX. Over the course of six episodes join the team members as they face injuries, sacrifice, personal setbacks and triumphs, all leading up to one nail-biting and adrenaline pumping final competition at the National Championship.
And SNL's slightly exaggerated take on the series a couple months ago:

A depressing subject. I only watched the trailer, but I can see the jist of it.

Saw an interview with a chef who runs a Michelin star seafood restaurant. He had some interesting comments about how he how he tries to have environmentally friendly and healthy seafood. Most customers are surprised to find this is includes farm raised food since most people assume seafood farming is bad and wild caught is better. He countered this by showing the evidence of the environmental damage of overfishing, and how fishermen are faced with ever smaller catch limits due fishery abuse. He the talked about how new and improved fish farming methods can sustainably produce superior products. After all, essentially all your meat is farm raised.

I stumbled by accident on them filming a few scenes of A Walk In The Woods. My oldest son is a movie buff; they film several movies a year on the Marietta Square so I would take him there hoping to get a glimpse of the action and to check out the changes they made to the businesses on the square.2,000 miler -
