Per my trail name, I've been stalking the 2017 hikers that are currently out on the trail. It looks like most have found refuge for the next day or two. I've also been checking out mountain-forecast.com for Roan Mountain and it looks damn nasty through Thursday at elevation.

BTW, did you know she was only 16 IRL when she was on F-Troop? She used a forged birth certificate..
I heard about her age some years ago. She looked a bit older.--

That was a great show, and one I use to watch with my pop, another was Gunsoke with Festus's shenanigans...Dennis Weaver was goofy as deputy, but Festus was true hill folk. -
I'm still watching Gun Smoke. It's on MeTV M-F afternoons along with Rifleman, Rawhide, The Virginians, and The Ponderosa, oh and the Bounty Hunter?"Dazed and Confused"

Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -

Actually, I probably have you all beat...
Dead body pulled out of river. It's 100 degrees and the body has been in about a week..water is about 75 degrees...by the time the coroner was ready to load it up...it had "grown" and was leaking black fluid...Vicks vapor rub in the nostrils wouldn't get it done... -

I have been through many a dry Texas summer. My buddy never had a car with air conditioning in it. We just rolled the windows down. Couldn't hear each other talk due to the noise but it was cooler that way.--

my ride to the trail head is alll set. Only sanfu is my buddy's wife is coming along to keep him company on the way home. She knows I'm no angel so its just to chaperone us and keep her hubby from having any whiskey or a safety meeting. Party pooper."Dazed and Confused"

Back on topic.....
Family obligations have narrowed my hiking window down to the last two weeks in August. I was hoping to do a true PCT LASH, but looks like I will do another 200 miles at best. I have 390 PCT miles down, and only 2,269 miles to go. Ouch!
Not really looking for advice, I'm just ranting my disappointment a bit.
My plan is to pick up where I left off, hiking North from Donner Pass, California. There is one thing bothering me, though. I will miss the great solar eclipse of 2017. I know I could hike an Oregon section and have the best of both world's, but I really wanted to finish with CA before I moved on. I have some kind of linear personality disorder. I have already had to start my sectioning in the middle of CA, I don't want to make it any worse by hopping all over the place every year.
So I think I am going to just concentrate on my hike. Two weeks is two weeks and I do not have many good hiking tears left in me. I will have another crack at a Solar Eclipse in 2024. If I am still alive in 2024 it will be in driving distance. Just thinking out loud. I don't expect anyone to cure me of my mental problems.“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,
the saddest are these, 'It might have been.”
