Are you HikerMom? Sorry. MY spider senses are going off. Forgive my ignorance if I am way off. Stick around and you will see that this represents one of my saner posts.

Okay... here is my first bit of advice. Start in the south. Most do that. The south is easier (so I'm told). Maine is a hard (so I'm told). I live in Maine. The vast majority of my hiking has been done in Maine. But from all I have heard, NoBo is the way to go. I am going SoBo.Non hikers are about a psi shy of a legal ball. -

You just need a little more training from me. I do not grovel at all. I just recognize the ways my wife is superior and point them out often. She in turn shows her appreciation. It is not a calculation on my part or hers. It is based in fact. Any false pretense would be eventually discovered and lead to collapse. The best way to a good relationship is to never defend your "rights" as an individual. I do not believe I have any unique, separate, or autonomous rights that preclude our union. Well, at least that works for me.

I like what John Wayne said in a movie...I hate to apologize. Now that is/was to say, I don't mind apologizing for something I did, but if I live my life right in the first place, I won't ever have to...it always stuck with me, I struggle to adhere...but I try.. -

Well Astro- sorry for the mix up-
When choosing to spend time online or in the company of swingers I've found you just have to accept that you're occasionally going to end up in an awkward situation with another dude.

you guys are a hoot, thank you all for the welcome.
curious who's from the Northern NJ, SW NY, western CT area?
I live in Niskayuna, NY (between Albany and Schenectady) and do occasional weekends in the Catskills (making slow progress toward the 35: I think I'm up to 16 summer and 3 winter). If you can tolerate hiking with a snail - I'm SLOW - I'd love to have someone to go out with. March is dodgy because the weather can be anything from full-on blizzard to 80 degree summer day, but if Mother Nature cooperates, I'd be game for a day trip or overnighter. I can go just about anywhere in the Cats if you give me lots of time to get there.
Any place you're particularly interested in going? If the weather allows, I'd like to try for Blackhead while the calendar says it's still winter. I don't want to do it in heavy ice - my ice-axe-and-crampon skills aren't current - but if it's approachable with microspikes or snowshoes, that'd be great.
Would love to do something just not sure I'll be able to. I'm in NW PA for a couple weeks and then to nt/ct/Nj area for a few days, into the Catskills around mar 7th for the devils path, than back to PA and off to Atlanta on the 24th to start my thru. Could possibly extend the end of my DP trip to do something else. Open to suggestions and happy to modify plans if possible -

I like real trail magic. When out of water one summer I came across an old spring house. One time when out of food and still several hours from a road crossing I found two apples sitting on the trail. No apple trees anywhere around that I could see. Seemed like magic to me.
