I would not be surprised if he she helps him out like Warren Doyle, Tim Horton and the others assisted her. Plus even if he breaks it, she will still hold the women's record.

i hope his support people are willing to hike in from roads to set up camps for him. a lot of ultrarunner types aren't campers

while i have not seen anything from karl meltzer himself, he apparently has given up his attempt at beating JPD fastest supported thru hike and is off the trail. he said before he started that he would end his hike if it became apparent that he would not set a new record.
