I don't understand how ARod has managed to totally rehabilitate his image. People must have a short memory.

I'd never heard that before. LOL, not only does he admit it, but credits it for his performance in September AND the Tigers winning the pennant.
I'd probably be tough to bring a rifle into a game today.

I just started a subscription to Smithsonian magazine. I had no idea what to expect -- I figured it'd be articles about all the "stuff" they have -- but it was so cheap that it would be no big deal if I didn't like it.
This article was unexpected. Interesting. Just unexpected.

OK, I ignored their monthly $5 offer when I clicked the link, but they followed me to Facebook and sweetened the deal to $2.50 a month for the first year. They got me!

I like The Athletic so far, but it just now hit me that I started a subscription to a sports website in a year that isn't going to have any sports.max.patch wrote:

It hit me after I read an article this morning on the top 100 sports movies of all time -- can't argue with Rocky as number 1 although they didn't show enough love to Hoosiers -- followed by a hard hitting article on the top 5 NBA jerseys of all time.
Kinda like having a subscription to AT Journeys mag because you like all the thru hiker content in Spring issue.

After Hamels (intentionally) does this...
Harper does this...
Harper gets the win.
And why isn't this on one video?
Edit to add: And why do I have to make an extra click to youtube to watch?

When Babe went to the St. Marys school in Baltimore he was a left handed catcher. Now that woulda been an interesting change to that HOF team.

My youngest son used to catch left handed. Travel ball and show case tournaments he would just Pitch, play 1B and the outfield some. But during the week during city league games I would have him Catch and play ShortStop if it meant the difference in us winning.max.patch wrote:

I once had a college baseball pitcher as student who said there was research that the reason Right Handers threw harder than Lefties was because they grew up playing C and SS (where you put your best athletes when they are not on the mound) so they develp their arms more. Makes sense, although the 90%/10% of the population probably is probably a factor also.

Lenny Randle was a real character. Recorded some music albums. Was once abat when the lights went out in Shea Stadium (at least when playing for the Mets). Saw a real interesting documentary on before (not for sure if MLB or Netflix). Below is a short clip about when he went to play in Italy.
