There have only been 24 perfect games.
About one in every 10,000 games

A couple trivia items courtesy of Mad Dog Radio:
The Yankees have had 4 pitchers with perfect games:
Don Larsen
David Wells
David Cone
Domingo German.
Their first names all start with D.
And...every year they had a perfect game they won the World Series. Lets hope that one ends now.2,000 miler -

The Boston Red Sox are making history again. According to the stat geeks this is the first 8-3-5 Triple Play since 1884!.

I haven't seen this yet -- it just came out a couple days ago -- but I think it will be good a good watch. Netflix.

Mike Veeck grew up in the shadow of his hustler father, Hall of Fame baseball owner Bill Veeck. The Veeck name became both legendary and notorious in professional baseball as they introduced the fun at ballparks — giveaways, theme nights, fireworks, and more. But it all came to a screeching halt when Mike blew up his father's career. Exiled from the game he loved, the younger Veeck spent the next few decades clawing his way up from rock bottom, determined to redeem himself. After receiving distressing news, what started as a journey to reclaim the family legacy, became an opportunity to appreciate that family more fully. Directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville (20 Feet From Stardom) and Jeff Malmberg (Marwencol), narrated by Jeff Daniels, and featuring Charlie Day as a younger Veeck, The Saint of Second Chances is wildly unexpected, full of heart, and keeps you laughing through a comeback story unlike any other.

I have been looking forward to the Veeck documentary. He was partners with Bill Murray at one point.
I believe MLB was a lot better off when teams were owned by baseball families than just the play toys of billionaires and multimillionaires (many times over). The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Starting with Bert Campaneris in 1965, 5 MLB players have played every position during the course of 1 game. (I would have thought it was more than that. Probably thinking of minor leagurers who have also done this.)

RIP Brooks Robinson.
Best 3rd baseman I've ever seen. Unfortunately I was old enough to watch the 1970 World Series and appreciate what I was seeing.
Late 60s and early 70s Orioles had great pitching and 3 straight World Series appearances and four 20 game winners one year. Which is easy to understand when your defense is led by Brooks Robinson along with Mark Belanger, Paul Blair, and eventually Bobby Grich. Of course having Earl Weaver in the dugout didn’t hurt either. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Tim Wakefield has died
He was a beloved player on the BoSox. He always sacrificed for the good of the team over worrying about his personal stats. Sometimes he would be sent in to eat up innings in lost causes, and he never complained once.
When his knuckleball was at its best, it was a wonder to behold. It would look like he was 'slow pitching' it to the plate (only about 60 mph), but the batters would be absolutely befuddled.
Tim Wakefield was a class act.“Of all sad words of tongue or pen,

The Bananas are coming to Atlanta for 3 games next March in the Braves AAA stadium.
Tickets start at $35 and "meet and greet" tickets start at $100. Wow! The Bananas are making bank!
Can't just buy a ticket either. They have a lottery and you have to get lucky. A lottery! When I went to the 91 World Series I walked up to the ticket window with about 5 games left in the regular season, gave em cash, and they gave me paper tickets for the NLCS (I don't think thats what they actually called it) and the World Series.
Go Bananas!

Great story about how it was back in the good old days 50 years ago. As a Mets fan and Bud Harrelson being my favorite player at the time, I remember this play well.
Shame the Mets couldn't handle the A's in the World Series who were in the middle of a 3 year run.
