anybody that hikes in arizona in the phoenix area doesn't have a lick of common sense if they don't take water. i've spent some time in tucson and ya better take a water bottle with ya when ya walk down the driveway to get the mail.
that's a significant issue. I've read plenty of news reports about rescues that suggested the hikers were reckless for doing things we would consider normal.TrafficJam wrote:
I wonder how they decide what's 'stupid'.

Yeah. I'm guessing that the next narrative behind 'foolhardy' will be 'senile.' I still can't quite getting over hearing from other hikers, "I think it's wonderful that you're out here doing this at your age!"WanderingStovie wrote:

Reminded me of my last visit to the doctor...she told me I was in great shape, if she'd stopped there it would have been good , but she just had to go on and say....for your age....what the hell does that mean!AnotherKevin wrote:

I was asked, on a similar note, by a job interviewer how I thought I could work on computers ? I had 7 years experience at that point. They said they didn't like to hire anyone over age 25.

Sadly, it was my last IT job where I got paid what I could do. The others were typically below what the job was worth. Or $8 an hour to handle 15 offices over multiple time zones. IT Managers called me up and asked for help. It wasn't for anything complicated. It was stuff like making backups. My last one was very nice indeed. I was making almost $30 per hour.AnotherKevin wrote:
