No surprise. Most did not buy - but it makes for a great back of car camping add on..Great for when the electric fails in the house... New tech already arrived.

must compact
have a great battery system (accept lithium)
Lightweight
High lumens - 70 or better.

Tempting. REI knocked another 5$ off. I've needed a durable general area light when taking the Scouts on an overnight. They haven't learned not to shine their personal flashlights about in a haphazard fashion.

However I'm told they never will.

I have a number of LED flashlights due to being selected at my last job to be on the ride out team for hurricanes, etc.

So, don't need this one.

Yea I found it interesting as the next generation is brighter and better, not lighter. Not compact. Odd.

There will always be one Boy Scout in the troop who will attempt to find that bear with his flashlight all night long.

Have you seen that Big Agnes, and maybe others, are now making tents with LED lighting built in.
To me that just seems like a gimmick feature that's bound to fail at the most inopportune time.
A headlamp, or small flashlight, seems much more versatile and therefore useful.
