For some reason, I notice some pretty familiar names from another popular site - yet nobody ever told me this one was here!?!?
It only took a few posts to realize the temperature was much warmer over here.
Plus, there seems to be a mean ol' nasty Alligator lurking in that other sandbox...
I seem to be one of the few over here who peacefully exists on both sites. If I'm over there I play by their rules (after all it's their house) over here I play by our. The occasional gator bites are annoying but I prefer to think about the fact that being a mod is a thankless job and while they're far from perfect, it's not an unpaid job that I would want to do and I'm glad that he does it (mostly)

One final warning. We have a politics discussion section. I highly recommend that you (and everyone else) just stay out of that forum (long story). But stick to the hiking forums and this place is great.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -

HI! I've not been "bit", but hang here......also, FYI, there was some recent changes to the HF site and a few hundred people have migrated over to a new Hammock Hangers (net) forum. Just in the past 2 weeks...ToS (WB) and HF happen to be.....hmmmm.....behind the curtain, under the same management.
The beatings will continue until moral improves.

That is just it...... 'Pushing the mods'........when it went down I sent a message to the troll about 'we were being treated like children'.......a small group of looneys who are friends are making wiener jokes not hurting anyone..............except the whiners who couldn't take an f'n joke!
Look, now I'm typeswearing!
And this is fun, he needs to understand, it ain't him, it's them. No different than when you brought us over and we were venting and those two broads were giving us all that crap.

below is a post i wrote back in july, 2014.
all jokes about being put on timeout or being banned aside, below is the reason why you can not take whiteblaze seriously as a credible, inpartial source of information about hiking the appalachian trail. walking in goosestep with gator is more important than the information one can bring to the table. how can anyone take a site seriously that has bound and gagged these two individuals?

warren doyle has 16 complete hikes of the trail - the most of anyone - and is permanently banned.
jack tarlin has 7 consecutive contemporary thru hikes and is the best individual source of information about doing a thru hike. he is on permanent moderated status. anything he posts is reviewed by a moderator before it is added to the site. the fact that gator gets to approve anything jack says is ludicrous.

Funny WB story.... Twisty had some items she wanted to sell, but didn't have enough posts to start a for sale thread over there. I gave her my login and password info and told her to have at it. A while later I start getting emails about PM's over there so I would let her know on here to go check them out because they were probably for her. I didn't look at them because, while it was my account, they were for her and not me.
Curiosity finally got the better of me so I went over to see what she was selling and damn, I wanted it so I bought her stuff from myselfIf your Doctor is a tree, you're on acid. -

Me and Hikerboy were putting presidents names in the cafe in sentences like "I drove my Lincoln through a ford in the stream" and Gator man said we were talking politics and TOed us.
I think Wolf actually helps hikers and has useful info especially on the geography of the trail. Plus he's an institution all by himself. Kicking him off would be like impeaching Barama. It just won't happen. -
