A supervisor that worked for me went to a golf course by himself and the guy singing came up and asked if he could play a round with him, said he was a great guy, got free tickets to their Allison Craus show in Nashville.I may grow old but I'll never grow up.

don't know if any of you watch America's Got Talent but there is a bluegrass band in one of the upcoming quarter final shows. They are quite good. A family I think. Their front person is a young female fiddler\vocalist. Reminds me a lot of Alison Krause. Great singer. What really bugs me is that the urban (and urbane) judges don't get it. They make fun of this as old fashioned hillbilly music but their last performance was a contemporary piece. The judges come off sounding like bafoons.

i fell in love with bluegrass in 76 when i spent the summer in vermont( also hiked the at for the first time). it was th ebicentennial, and they were having a bluegrass festival in burlington for the 4th.stanley bros, flatts and scruggs, countless others, there was music being played almost every night in backyards around town.i got to play with legends, didnt really know they were legends at the time, but ever since, ive been a fan. turned my kids on when they were young, never really knew why i loved that music so much, until my daughter courtney went to see alis.on krauss and union station.
the next day, she told me "daddy, now i know why you love bluegrass so much".its all good -

Here on Long Island there's a pretty good band, The Home Grown String Band
It's actually a family that does music together.
Maybe not as good as the professionals, but they put on a good show.

Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

Went to an Irish Music Festival a couple of weeks ago. There were several celtic-bluegrass fusion groups from Ireland there. It's interesting that Irish music came to the US and morphed into Bluegrass which is now going back to Ireland an morphing back into Irish music.

While they aren't full on bluegrass, they have some leanings that way, and all the instruments.

Here's one from the Dellas you could say I "commissioned." In their Pledgemusic campaign one of the things you could do was select a cover song for them to do. Here's my choice. I pictured it with the usual lead singer (Celia) on vocals, because she has that smoky bluesy voice. I think Jenni Lyn sang on this to make it more of their own stamp on it. Either way, I love it!!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing JJ! I always enjoy music that is new to me and interesting.Lost in the right direction. -
Hot Corn Cold Corn is a simple, traditional bluegrass song that can be embellished in really cool ways. I love this version, (hope the link works.) Too bad the fiddle doesn’t take a break.
Don’t try to understand it, the lyrics make no sense which makes it fun to sing and play.

I've been groovin on Billy Strings . His live shows have been on nugs.net.
Amazing guitarist with an incrdibly talented band.
I love his version of Shady Grove, it has all the elements of what my music teacher is trying to teach my jam group.
Molly Tuttle and Golden Highway are really hot right now. I’ve followed the fiddle player, Bronwyn Keith-Hines for several years and watched her develop as a performer. I had the privilege to have her as a teacher at camp one year.Lost in the right direction. -
My daughter is seeing Billy Strings this weekend. Did she invite me? No! Instead, she invited me to cat sit. I better get a tee shirt.

Billy Strings was on our lical PBS station this week with a performance at the Ryman Auditorium.
On Tuesday we went to a free concert at our local outdoor concert venue (Meijer Gardens). For years they have had a free concert in late August that features west MI musicians, hosted by Ralston Bowles, a well known local musician. This year he invited a teenage kid from Traverse City to perform (unfortunately I don't recall his name) who is an amazing bluegrass guitar player.
This is the second teenage bluegrass guitar player from Traverse City we saw at Ralsron's concert. The first was Billy Strings, quite a few years ago. He used to perform a lot locally at small venues. Now he is coming back to play an arena show on Halloween. He was interviewed on public radio and said a down side with becoming a big star is He doesn't get to those little local gigs like he used to.
