    • This is gonna take some getting used to....

So I'm out in my yard this afternoon working my lab. just as I finished my mail lady (my cousin Deborah) pulls up the driveway to bring me my boots. They're in the back so she gets out, walks around and drops the tailgate on her jeep (regular jeep with the steering wheel on the wrong side, not a "mail jeep"). Big mistake, my lab is a working dog and a drop tailgate means something to him.....it means jump your ass inside and let's go do something fun.

After I put Bubba's crazy ass in his kennel and helped Deborah get her jeep straightened back out I break open the box and try on my new boots. No, not boots, clodhoppers. These things are....well, huge. And odd. And.....not normal.

You gotta understand, I've basically only worn three pairs of shoes in the last 3 years; Keen McKenzies, Keen Marshalls and Muck Boots.

The first two are like socks with soles (not to be confused with our "Socks" who has no soul.....) and the third which are worn with a purpose. These Targhee are like leather and cloth pac boots without the upper. They're really comfortable, but I feel like I have gorilla feet all of a sudden. I feel like a new age dutch kid with these things on. I don't know, I'm gonna have to get back to y'all later on these things.......and that stickman....now when I walk on hard surfaces I don't hear "dooomp....dooomp....dooomp" instead I hear "unhh...unhhh...unhh". I feel like Forrest Gump sitting on the porch while his mama gets him enrolled in school.

This is gonna take some getting used to....
If your Doctor is a tree, you're on acid.
    • Cons
Heavy. More heel lift than I'm used to.

      Pros
      Very comfortable. Proven waterproof.

      Meh
Hot on my feet, but this may well be due to all my socks being heavier than normal since I mainly wear mesh shoes so I'll defer judgement on this until I switch socks.

    • Ok I read the thread and I have to put this out there... Socks does have a sole. He lacks Soul somewhat.....Lets move on. (I am KIDDING!)

Folks there are waterproof hiking boots... f- the rocks across the stream... just plow thru. Tek wick and other blends with the right poly blends will dry very fast... stop being like a cat crossing a stream. 1/2 hour later you will be warm and hiking... your feet can take it.
