about a year ago, while i hiked from springer to bland ,va, i got the news my mom had been diagnosed with lung cancer. she didnt want to tell me, as she didnt want to "ruin" my trip. i reminded her i was just walking in the woods, and not out winning a nobel prize for something, that it was only a vacation, i could come home any time if needed, and to just keep me informed. since then, shes gone through both chemo and radiation therapy, and she is now in remission.
thank you mom for letting me live my dreams, for always supporting me no matter what, for letting me figure it out on my own.you've taught me how to be a better parent and a better person.
i love you with all my heart.
happy mothers day mom.
