Big Agnes Fly Creek UL1.
Perhaps I should wish I had read comments from Elf about the UL2 (worth the extra ounces) before I bought it. But I set it up in the kitchen yesterday and while not as spacious as my Seedhouse SL2, it did not feel like a coffin. Of course I did not have my pack with me or stay in it for 10 hours. Still love the weight and quick setup.
Plan to take it on the Ouachita Trail for 6 days next week, so we will see how it goes. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Will do, and hopefully it will NOT be about how it stood up in the rain, sleet, snow, and ice. :unsure:The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

No, I am hoping it does not need to. I grew up in South Florida, so I am not really into Winter camping, so hoping for milder weather. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

I was just checking the Little Rock weather. Looks pretty good for the next ten days. Some chilly nights.

Santa's been and gone here.
My presents are listed on F book.
I also have a sore back from my first day of work for 10 months.
Merry Christmas to all in the cafe and I hope to see all again one day.

Looking much better now. Yesterday 10 day forecast was showing sleet, snow, and temps in the teens. Not starting until Wednesday 1/1, so hopefully things will stay the same or even warm up. Would rather take 40* than 20* bag, but looking more like the latter. Last week it was in the 70s, so who knows what I will actually end up with. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

Te marmot scree pants are real nice, I just got a pair a couple months ago.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -

I am barely in shape for it. I can do it, but it's not very graceful. I recently joined a climbing gym and have been climbing indoors about twice a week, hoping that it will make a difference when I ice climb this winter.
I am just lucky that I have a friend who is a very accomplished ice climber and let's me tag along.Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them. -
Elf, so what are these things and what do they do?
I assume they have something to do with snow and ice. Please enlighten this poor southern boy.The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

They are ice climbing axes. Here are a couple of stock photos of how they're supposed to be used. I can guarantee you that I don't look nearly as cool as the people in the photos when I do it.
I also am nowhere near the experience level needed to tackle the kind of big ice in the photos, I have only done relatively small frozen waterfalls.
