well, santa didn't bring it, but i noticed christmas nite that there was an 11 pound box on the front porch for me from the atc that had been delivered the day before. so now i have all the current maps, guidebooks, a brand new patch, and the 2014 companion. the companion now includes profiles for those of you who have been asking for them. the profiles come at a cost; the companion has grown 0.5 inch in width and 1.75 inches in length.2,000 miler

Hey, tauwillow, welcome to the café!
I'm especially interested in hearing your opinion of the JRB underquilt. I have a hammock but only used it so far for summer camping, so I don't have any quilts, just a sleeping bag. -

I already had the Mt Washington 3, but just got the Mt Washington 4. I sleep very very cold (hypothyroid keeps my circulation low) and found the Mt W 3 just didn't keep me warm enough when the temp dipped below 30. My husband, on the other hand, sleeps super hot - so on the extra cold nights, I'll have the 4 and he will have the 3.
We're going on a "Freeze Your Butt Off" camping trip with a hiking Meetup group at the end of January, so I will get a real chance to test out the underquilts. I also picked up a Wexford GTS (gore tex sock) from underquilts.com that I am dying to try out! I'll be sure to post the results. -

Coach, it that what you call multi-purpose? Orange so the hunter won't shoot it and reflective so you can find it early in the morning. I hope the bears don't have flashlights. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

I got a new jetboil flash & a helinox chair. I've been looking for a decent chair for a while now and have tried a few different ones. I have arthritis in my lower back and can't get up when sitting on the ground with doing this funky roll. Leave it to my dh for finding a chair I hope will work. It sits high enough. Weighs a little more than I'd like ... 2 lbs, but if I can get up without pain or looking like an ass ... it works for me :). Plus my son's gf got me an "as seen on tv" solar charger. We'll be hiking up and around Mt. Minsi tomorrow and I'm going to try it out.“Alone had always felt like an actual place to me, as if it weren't a state of being, but rather a room where I could retreat to be who I really was.”
