This happened last year, & it will repeat this year... The avalanche and the high winds covered up the preferred route, forcing many off the mountain....

With safety in doubt, many international climbing companies decided to pull the plug, leading to a domino effect that also swept up the independent climbers who rely on shared resources.

"If 30% of your workforce walks away, it compromises your operational capabilities, given the difficulties of finding new porters, cooks, and guides in short time in the Khumbu," said one guide from a leading operator.
Many were resigned to the sudden end to the season.
"I feel very sad about the Sherpas," said Ake Lindstrom, an adventure operator from Tanzania.
"Everybody knows each other; it is a small community and their loss is very tangible. It takes a small amount of empathy to let go of one's frustration."
Weidlich, however, stayed.
Later she was joined by Wang Jing, a 41-year-old Chinese woman also determined to press ahead with an attempt on the summit.
Despite their determination in the face of calls for a halt to climbing, many Sherpas CNN Travel spoke to were not unhappy with their plans.
Instead, they voiced other concerns, including the disparity they perceive between local and international guide salaries, overcrowding on the mountain, a lack of respect to their mountain god and those who died.

The lead story here in Atlanta yesterday was Bruce Jenner announcing he wanted to be a woman. The tragedy in Nepal was second. Something is wrong with this country.......

Narrow minded much? Whether or not her story should've been in the lead (the fault of the news types not the subject), and/or whether you approve of her lifestyle, doesn't mean she belongs in another country or the slums thereof, or deserves your barely veiled underlying meaning.

I feel sorry for Jenner.
No matter what he looks like in the end, he'll still be a man because the X and Y chromosomes don't change.
Or at least that's my understanding.
And what if he still doesn't feel "right" after all is said and done?
I heard the other day on the radio that he's so confused and disturbed that he's on a suicide watch.
I can't imagine what he must be going through, I wish him well and that he finds inner peace and contentment.

jenner has issues other than being a woman in a mans body.

his traffic accident, which as far as i know is still being investigated, appears to show that he was at fault in the accident in which an elderly woman was killed. (based on what has been released to the public so far.)

I have no ill will toward Jenner. I was a fan of his during his Olympic years. However I have no desire to hear about his sexual orientation issues. It's disturbing to me that the general public even knows about it, much less that it was a lead story on the news.

I just see it as a distraction - the real news is Baltimore burning and Everest & Nepal... Wasn't the best thing to post last night. The radio chatter today was all about the interview that I missed... lucky I can change the channel I had a better one in the wings I should have used it instead, "they produce the finest fruit and vegetables in California!"
