I have an aluminum flashing wind screen that rolls up and fits inside my pot
It's light, cheap, and easy to work with. -

So many problems with this test.
I would guess you could get a 2nd degree burn (blisters). But if your windscreen is getting that hot, your system is not very efficient. My Al flashing wind screen barely gets warm.
I don't see bulk as an issue. An aluminum flashing screen cut to fit inside the pot takes up essentially no space.
The windscreen should be tight fitting to help facilitate heat transfer. Neither of his tests showed this.
Plus he didn't have any wind to test the effectiveness of the wind screen. I have not tested this myself. Need to build a wind tunnel like the Wright Brothers. -

But the Wright Brothers built one in their garage. Then they built an airfoil testing device out of hacksaw blades and bicycle wheel spokes. Then they invented the plane so we can have a NASA. Thanks, but I'll go the WB route.
