    The thing was I was on my way down to the spring at Tripoli Campsite when I saw this deer browsing on the trail ahead of me. I stopped so as not to spook the deer so I could get a picture. The deer looked up and saw me. Instead of running away the deer walked toward me. It actually walked right up to me and sniffed my legs and hand. It then let me pet it!     My sister lives in North Canaan, CT (right in town) and constantly has black bears causing problems. The bear(s) have been seen crossing the play ground at the grade school and the CT DEP doesn't do a thing about it. My ex lives in Winsted and a very large black bear walked right through the condo complex a few years ago. They exist and DEP acknowledges their existence, unlike mountain lions

    My fiancee lives about 5 miles from one of the trail crossing in MA. She is not a backpacker or hiker but is willing to try so I have bought the maps and we will be starting out doing some day hikes on it to see how it goes.
