Quote from odd man out: “Quote from jimmyjam: “one night years ago in a strip club in Knoxville I came up with a great idea. Still thinking about applying for a patent. Yes there was drinking involved. ” I've noticed that people down south are very polite. There seems to be a gentlemen's club at every highway exit. ” ...and three churches.

I fear cold so I pack layers and plenty of nighttime warmth. I guess I fear becoming a statistic via man or beast and want to give myself every advantage, so I carry bearspray...usually.

  • Hey y'all! My newest article is a heartfelt piece detailing Post Thru-Hike Feelings. Please share as you see fit. https://appalachiantrailclarity.com/2016/08/01/post-trail-feelings/ Depression is common among those who thru-hike when we reenter society, its schedules and pressures. It'sometimes feels hard to find our place. Though my new job is providing new adventures in the form of national and international travel, I still find it confusing sometimes to figure out where I fit. Life feels so f…

Hey y'all! I've got a curious question for you. Do you all dream regularly? My hiking connection comes in the next part of the inquiry...do you dream as regularly when you're hiking/camping? My AT sleep was nearly always so deep and satisfying that I dreamed very little. Now that I'm back into the societal swing of working a couple of jobs and fitting life in around work, my nights are riddled with dreams...not nightmares luckily. It's enough to make me question if that's a common phenomenon tha…

Hey all. I started my full-time job today. As much as I'm going to love it, I'm struggling with returning to the daily grind where I, as I always did my whole life before, have to fit life in around work. The trail is still in me, and feeling the familiar stress I experienced for a good 15 years of my life is tough after living life at 2.5MPH for 6 months and then getting paid to work on it. I published my journal describing these emotions I'm experiencing (link below). I'm open to advice, words…

Ooh southern Maine. Hands down the HARDEST part of the entire 2189. Much of it is attitude. It's actually a lot of fun, but challenging (and to me, sometimes scary) too. Facing fears, however, is one of my favorite things to do. I hope you guys are having fun! Enjoy the Mahousic Notch!
