Cade's Cove is best viewed from the top of the mountains...the only way I've seen it...I hate crowds...I've been social distancing most of my life.

Quote from Traffic Jam: “Hiked about 9 miles today in Frozen Head State Park. It was a great hike, one of the best I’ve done in that park...challenging, rewarding, and peaceful. The weather was amazing, temps were 60’s and 70’s with a nice breeze. What a lovely day. My blisters from the FHT now have blisters. Again, the problem is my foot with the bunion. I always get a bad blister where my big toe is forced into the next toe and overlaps it a little. Powders and antichafe creams aren’t working.…

Quote from Astro: “I plan to leave for ME 3 weeks from today. Will start hiking NoBo from Monson to Katahdin on Wednesday July 8. This will knock out 112 miles. Originally had planned to do the 55 miles from Pinkham Notch to Grafton Notch first. Now will consider myself lucky if this opens up later in July, but realistically know at this point I will probably have to come back in 2021. Still having 2,138 miles will be a success I guess considering the circumstances. ” That was the last section I…

I hiked with a friend I hadn't seen in a year, he told me I left my fancy chair where we camped last and would bring it the next time we are together...never knew it was missing so obviously I never got much use from it.

  • thought about getting a watch to give atmosphere pressure to help know when a storm was coming over the mountains on the CT but the weight was more than I could handle...out west is the only place I'd feel I needed weather info because they come up so fast and you may be the highest point above tree line

  • Quote from Traffic Jam: “I've been playing around with another map app, the Garmin Explorer, and it's so frustrating...these technical things aren't easy for me to figure out. I downloaded all the free maps and overlays but the Foothills Trail isn't on any of them so I created waypoints by manually typing in the GPS coordinates. I used the correct format but noticed all my waypoints now have different GPS coordinates than the ones that I manually typed in and aren't in the correct places. ARGHH!…
