The way I've been getting some joy is Dog Twitter and also the videos that my daughter sends of Bella being ferocious with the octopus toy that I gave her for Christmas. When my daughter visited in February, she brought the octopus and I repaired it. When she sent a new video this week, she said she doesn't think that the octopus is going to survive the Stay At Home. Well at least Bella is enjoying flinging it from side to side and chewing on the head and beeping the beeper in its head. And I'm …

I had to go to the grocery store on Wednesday to replenish. Normally my husband goes but he slipped down the stairs last week and severely injured right above his knee. He had a telemed v…

I also have no interest in watching a replay of a game that was played a couple of months ago, but at least that makes sense and I can see why that might attract viewers. ” I have a number of games dvr'd and earlier this week, I watched the Spartans who were #3 at the time beat #5 Notre Dame. Here's another video at "The Log" from Bush's Pennsylvania Wildlife Camera: GBH returns to the Log March 2020 Note: the Great Blue Heron stands right in front of the camera for about 8 minutes doing GBH things then slowly walks across at the end. I like that no artificial sounds are included, only the sounds of the water rushing along.

When my Dad was 10, he helped my Dziadzia (grandfather) and Wujek (uncle) build a cottage. There were only dirt roads to access it when I was growing up that were used infrequently. So, when I was about 12, when Dad turned off the local road onto the dirt road, he would let me steer, even though there were several steep turns. He would also let me steer on the way back home until we reached the main road. When I was about 14, he began letting me drive, that is, also use the gas pedal and brake. …

I've now been in the house for 7 days 21 hours. I'd like to go for a walk but the tree pollen is out. Aack.

Instead of hiking the AT this year, my sister prevailed on me to join her on a Road Scholar trip to Red River Gorge in KY the 3rd week of April. It was going to be 2 all day hikes, a day of rock climbing then kayaking & ziplining on the 4th day. Well, they've suspended all trips through April. We're still going but we're going to do 3 all day hikes and go ziplining on the 4th. Then on the way home we'll stop and check out Big Bone Lick State Park. Went to the Rec Center this morning very early t…

  • I'm just glad that I've already walked/backpacked it. The first time was with my husband in July 2014 (we walked over and back) which was right after the very last time that I saw/spoke with Baltimore Jack as he was coming out of the Harpers Ferry Outfitter. This memory saddens me. The second time was when I backpacked in April 2017 from the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park to the Mason-Dixon sign. That was a great backpacking trip.

My sister got married in Las Vegas Oct 2005. Next morning she hosted everyone at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay for brunch-memorable. The rest of the day was spent with my husband and daughter checking out places along the strip. I placed a bet on MSU to win the National Championship at one of the sports books. This was the team that was pre-season top 5 with Paul Davis, Mo Ager, Shannon Brown. Should have just flushed that 20 down the toilet or being a bit of a pyro-set it on fire, as they …

The weather is SNOW!!! and lots of it! about 6+". My husband had surgery for a bone spur on his shoulder which caused a small tear in his rotator cuff and his arm is in a sling so it fell to me to deal with the snow. Well, the snow blower worked for a while but it's very wet snow and also cold so as it went through the snow blower, at times it would sort of freeze up a bit and the snow blower couldn't blow it through. Had to stop, clear out the semi-frozen snow and restart. What a pain. After se…
