Quote from hikerboy: “it was a treat for me as well, astro.it was like a long lost friend coming home. nice job on the trip!! and be sure to let me know if you're coming back this way. ” Thats they way I felt when I met you HB & many other net friends over the years. Family, not just friends.

  • In 98 I did my 500+ SOBO LASH of PCT through the Sierra. Love cowboy camping & counting shooting stars as I fell asleep. Anyone wats to read my journal of that hike PM me.

  • Plague = Bubonic as far as I know. Still around, but less common now that source & treatment/prevention is known. Two youths killed as the slept in another part of part. A trajety & my prayers go out to their family, but just a freak accident I believe.

  • Working bike rallies the crew oftens gets frustrated answering stupid questions. Years ago I said to my boss the people here have to be the luckiest people in the world. When he asked why I told him, because they made it here. They don't know how to read a f&^%ing sign but somhow found there way here! I often think of George Carlin's Quote" Just think of how stupid the average person is. Then realize half the people in this world are dummer than him!"

  • It may get tougher but the rewards are so much greater! Less PUDs & swichbacks. & once on a ridge you normally stay high.

Maybe one of these days I give it a toss or two ” Daniel Boone could split a tree with that, before chopping it down, youtube.com/watch?v=Y7sPvWrL6KY

  • Early into the PCT I joine a loose group of solo hikers. It consisted of me & Taro whom had previously hiked the AT & two females who had never done a long distance hike. The PCT is graded (I think 13%) to be equestrian friendly. At one point one of the women complained about how steeep the trail was getting. It was maybe 40% grade. I commented it wasn't steep. On AT steep begins when you stand up & extend your arm& can touch the trail in front of you. They looked at Taro & asked if it was true.…

If you have windows 7 & like it I would stick with that. MS will run support for it untill 2020. I had to get a new laptop with 8.1. I hated it. I much prefer Windows 10.

Quote from CoachLou: “Mike, what going down at the Fort? ” Slowly plugging along between shows. When I return there in a day or two it will be with plywood for the roof on Nigels cabin. Have a garden going & have been cutting lumber.

  • Quote from Da Wolf: “me, warren and b. jack should be on the ATC board ” So what would be the first thing you do? Strap all trail majic providers to a shelter & burn them down?

Just finished Sturgis Bike Week. Was relatively easy. Only 177 hours in two weeks. No big storms. We took a side trip to Denver so guy I was traveling with could visit family. While driving through Kansas there was a tornado back in Denver & I-70 shut down in Fergusen in front of us. Timing is everything!

Wild rabbit is so lean people in survival situations can starve on a diet of it. Farm raised rabbit have some fat. Ducks are known to be greasy.

A few days ago when we opened our tent in Sturgis a bunny was hopping around. I mentioned if anyone could catch it I wanted it for the homestead. One woman said "your not going to eat it are you?" I said no. I wanted to breed it. Then she asked if I was going to sell the babies. Said no them I was going to eat!
