I did get to meet him while shuttling him while he stayed at Angel's Rest. It was both an honor & a pleasure. We amused the other hikers with our tales of hiking the AT 25+ years ago. How we had UL tents, they just weighed 5 lbs. back then. He has invited me down to Flagg Mt where he is a caretaker & told me I should hike the Pinhoti Trail.

Still addicted to printed maps. Most hikers I deal with at the Hostel use guthook. Most of the ones I take out are reviewing the elevation profiles during the drive. A few still use a paper guide & even seen a few older people using paper maps. I do notice a high percentage of garmin minis hanging off peoples packs

My first Feathered friend sleeping bag was their Rock Wren. It had no side baffles so you could move the down from top to bottom to adjust temperature. The temp rating was not what I needed so I had them add some down. I recently replaced it with a newer version called their Winter Wren. Pretty much what I originally ordered with a better shell. So yes, I believe in adding fill to some items.
