Still use a whitegas stove quite a bit during winter. Inverted and remote canister stoves are slowly taking over even that niche. But, I really don't need (or want!) yet another stove. So for snow melting, break out the trusty MSR.

I use vest for the "in between times". Certainly good enough this past weekend at 11200' when the wife and I were camping. A 100 wt fleece pullover and this vest was more than toasty for the cool weather in the early evening. I would not want to wear it constantly, but it does make a quick item to pull out for breaks or hanging in camp. Don't know about other areas but hardware stores, local sporting good stores and even many grocery stores sell white gas in the one gallon and the 1 qt size in my neck of the woods. Enough people still use the Coleman dual burner white gas stoves and lanterns for car camping where there is a consistent demand for white gas.

I should have been more specific "all-around three season use". Winter, of course, needs a different pack. Though a 50l has worked well for me during shoulder season. Being 5'6", no need for long clothing, pads or sleeping bags.

Love the ULA Catalyst. It is my workhorse pack. Be it playing porter for my buddy's two kids, guiding or winter backpacking, it is a pack that does it all. Considering the size of the pack, 48 oz is pretty light. For an ~$100 pack that is a pretty decent all around pack, check out the GoLite Jam.
