The sign doesn’t really say the trail is closed . The forest service were parked near where I parked. They watched for quite a bit while I slowly worked my way into the trees, hunting the elusive dry land fish. I used the AT to cross the tracks, then back on the hunt....appalachiantrailcafe.net/index…b52a4d487964d3d2f49de4b6dappalachiantrailcafe.net/index…b52a4d487964d3d2f49de4b6dappalachiantrailcafe.net/index…b52a4d487964d3d2f49de4b6d

We had a week long trip planned for Roan Mountain campground the first week in April. Looks like that will be cancelled. My wife is a nurse at a nursing home. They now have two rooms converted to containment rooms so the hospital can send infected patients there. .. Why?? The elderly are the most likely to get it. So why send it to a nursing home? Makes no sence to me. Five managers there this week turned in their notice. Which started a discussion last night about older health care workers quit…

Quote from odd man out: “It's amazing how different the experience is between driving highways vs local roads. When we took our first trip with our camping trailer, we were going from MI to Yellowstone. We took I80 to central Iowa but then got off the highway to camp at St Park near Ames. The we took local roads to visit my relative in a small town in Northeast Nebraska. From there we took local roads to Badlands NP. This road across northern NE is amazing. You go through several towns with popu…

Quote from Mountain-Mike: “Glad the trip went well. Like most things it's a matter of pratice. The more you drive it the more comfortable you will feel. I agree with timing your trip A LOT! I often drive bypasses around cities or taken longer routes that are often not only faster, but a lot less stresfull. People that have never hauled a trailer don't understand. My ex hated riding with me in the Semi when I took her. She said I didn;t talk. I tried to explain to her I have 80,000 pounds under m…

We made it there and back. The pull there wasn’t too bad. I left at 5:00am. Traffic wasn’t too bad. We enjoyed surf and pier fishing. The water was still too warm for the fall runs. Just a dozen or so fish were caught. Friday evening the wind picked up as we were packing up. I noticed two ruined awnings in the campground the next morning. We pulled out for home Saturday morning at 10:00am. A much later start than I had wanted. The traffic wasn’t horribly bad, but the wind was. It never let up fr…

It's odd..... I'm fine if I'm in the passenger seat. Last year on a trip down to Texas I knew of a tall bridge coming up. I pulled over for gas and asked my wife if she wanted to drive for a bit. She realized why when she saw the bridge. She laughed... Then got nervous as we started going up, lol. (I had been over it by myself on a different trip).

What RV do you have? What do you pull it with? We have a ’98 Rockwood pop up and a 2020 Coachmen TT. I need some help. The last couple of years I get really messed up when I’m driving through a busy interstate through a city. Or if I’m driving over a really high bridge, like what goes over the Mississippi River. I feel like I’m going to have a panic or anxiety attack. I never was like this before. Any ideas on how to overcome my problem?appalachiantrailcafe.net/index…b52a4d487964d3d2f49de4b6dapp…

We pulled the pop up to Harrison Bay. I’m pulling the big camper to the beach. I’m nervous to pull the camper that far. This will be the first time for me to pull it far on the interstate. I’m already having panic attacks. Planning on leaving at 5am so I can get through Asheville and Columbia before the traffic gets bad......

A couple of weeks ago we went to Harrison Bay State Park for a week of camping and paddling. It's located right outside of Chattanooga, Tn. Our 8 month old Australian shepherd loves the water. If she's out with just me, she will stay on the kayak. If my wife is out with me, she loves swimming back and forth between our boats. We leave Saturday for a week of camping at north myrtle beach. The weather looks like it's perfect for paddling.appalachiantrailcafe.net/index…b52a4d487964d3d2f49de4b6dappa…

A week or two ago we took our dog for the first time. She loved it. You’ve got me excited for my trip coming up in a week and a half. My wife and our dog are heading to Chicamauga Lake in Tn for a week. We’re taking our pop up camper and we have a lake front site at a campground. We’re taking our kayaks so the pop up works better for towing.

One day at a pull over my dad, and some other men that were there, decided it was a good idea to cross a fence and get some closer pictures of the bison. Half way across the field the bison started running tow…

My wife and I got chased by a bull shortly after going through the gate. My wife screamed " what do we do"... I yelled run!! We made it to a barbed wired fence and climbed to the other side. A few minutes later 3 horse back riders showed up by the gate. The bull seen them and started chasing one of them around for a few minutes before leaving the area. It took a lot of work to get my wife to go back over that fence......

My wife, when we're ready, wants to trade her '14 crosstrek for a 4 door jeep. We're unable to pull a pop up camper with the crosstrek. I'll be pulling a pontoon boat with my f250 super duty. .... I wish she'd keep the Subaru and just get the jeep to park beside it.

I've hiked up the dune many times. When I was younger I got passed by Walter Payton a few times. He could go up and down around five times before I could make it to the top. Of course I was only a kid then. If I had been an adult it would have been 3 times. Lol
