Big walk off hit for Brett Phillips. Worst trade Lunhow ever made was him, Josh Hader. Domingo Santana, and some others for Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers. Saw Phiilips hit a homerun as a numberless minor leaguer against the Braves at Disney many years ago. Thought he might be a solid player someday. Well at least he has one big hit he will never forget.

Quote from IMScotty: “I was lucky enough to see Jerry Jeff Walker a couple of times. He was a great showman. He does a much better version of Mr. Bojangles that is slower and more heartfelt. Check out this version from his "Great Gonzo" album. youtube.com/watch?v=OS_Y-fXLpWM The whole album is worth a listen... ” I would agree this version is better than the one I posted (more similar to the NGDB hit). You are fortunate to have heard him person. In the over 20 years I lived in Texas unforutnatel…

Quote from odd man out: “I'm more familiar with the Bob Dylan and Arlo Guthrie versions. I always assumed one of them wrote it. ” I would say just another case of a couple of Yankees getting credit for the work of a Southner, but actually Jerry Jeff was born in New York (like Guthrie, at least the state but not the city). It is just that most of his career was in the Austin, TX music scene.

Jerry Jeff Walker gone at 78 from throat cancer. Personally feel Nitty Gritty Dirt Band version is better, but I am sure Jerry Jeff enjoyed cashing all those royalty checks for writing it. youtu.be/mDoeUz8vExY

Actually guess after a while I decided I prefer to get the biking done first, and then I hike to the car. ” Don't remember ever riding a bike with a 20 pound backpack, but I guess I could gi…

When I was working with Boy Scouts, some of my favorite camping trips were when we went to state parks and could attend ranger talks and hikes. On the weekend an "outdoor classroom" can still be a great way to learn.

Hike if you want, but damaging property and violating LNT is for assholes. Privy's have to be maintained, periodically cleaned out, and even relocated. In the best of times, people throw things in the privys that they shouldn't and someone has to go through all that muck and separate it. Closed and unmaintained privy's being us…

Even though I try to walk 3 to 6 miles a day, it is nothing like going up and down mountains over roots and rocks (although compared to the NH/ME this trail is pretty smooth). Really busy at work now, but need to get out and do one of these weekend hikes every 2 or 3 weeks. Been studying OHT maps and while the curvy mountain roads prevent roadwalks are too dangerous for walking, I believe could use the Forrest Service dirt roads to cut down the time of always doing an out and back.
