LOL, so Lenny Dykstra sues former teammate Ron Darling for defamation because of comments Darling made in his book. And the judge dismisses the lawsuit becasue (paraphrasing here) Dykstra's reputation was already so bad that nothing can make it any worse. usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/…ing-dismissed/5309597002/ <snip> “Based on the papers submitted on this motion, prior to the publication of the book, Dykstra was infamous for being, among other things, racist, misogynist, and anti-gay, as well a…

While there are several places to resupply on that stretch, the absolute easiest also happens to be almost exactly halfway -- the NOC (Nantahala Outdoor Center). You'll walk right thru the place on your hike. Because of the CV you will need to contact them and ensure what their hours are and if they will have the food you will need. On my thru I sent myself a box there; you may want to check if still offer that service. I have no idea what has changed becasue of the CV.

Quote from Traffic Jam: “It sounds like DB wants to sponsor an AT hiker who will be expected to post often to social media during their hike. They want someone who is good with a camera and wants the applicant to share their blog or instagram. It’s not for me either but maybe a good opportunity for the right person? Clarity comes to mind... enthusiastic, engaging, and brew knowledgeable. ” I initially thot of Dixie -- but they don't want her since she lives in Alabama. Clarity would be a great c…

If you take the Harris Hollow trail a couple mles south from Gravel Springs Hut down to Harris Hollow Road. Turn left and continue a few miles to Washington. There you will find The Inn At Little Washington. For just $750 you can get a room for the night (breakfast included). You can eat in their three Michelin star dining room for only $3…

Yesterday Jimmy Buffett released his first album in 7 years. Here's the first track; the entire album is on YouTube (probably need to search for "life on the flip side" and look for one of the playlists with all 14 tracks). Last night Dropkick Murphys streamed a 2 hour concert for charity (of which I've only watched the first 20 minutes or so). I put the link here as they did the concert from Fenway, and if you jump ahead to the 6:00 minute mark they give a 5 minute or so tour of the park which I found interesting. There is a garden there -- Fenway Farm -- (besides Scotty...who knew?) and the story of the red chair. One of the band members used to sneak into games with 9 of his friends; security could only catch 1 o…

Quote from Astro: “While looking for the Lenny Randle documentary, I found this 10 cent bear night video I thought you might enjoy. ” Interesting details. I obviously knew about 10 cent beer night -- but I didn't know they did it twice! That's hard to believe after what happened the first time. Jeff Burroughs was eventually traded to the Braves -- and watching him play it quickly became obvious he always -- always! -- took the first pitch. We used to joke about it when we went to a game.

Quote from Astro: “Lenny Randle was a real character. Recorded some music albums. Was once abat when the lights went out in Shea Stadium (at least when playing for the Mets). Saw a real interesting documentary on before (not for sure if MLB or Netflix). Below is a short clip about when he went to play in Italy. ” "hitting over .600"... OK I had to ask google...he won the batting title hitting .477 -- I wonder how many hits he was short of an even .500?

I did someone last night I never thot I'd do. Finished up with Netflix at midnight, and as I switched the TV from Roku to Cable the last channel I had watched was ESPN. And a Korean League baseball game was about to start. So I watched it. Well, some of it, off and on between naps. The announcers said it was equivalent to AA. One of the players on one of the teams who had played in America said it was AAA plus. I'm going with the announcers. Players didn't practice social distancing in the dugou…
