I guess Astro is too busy hiking to post this one, so I will do it for him. The Marinick / Lucroy collision.... <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z00zjTdCx4\" class="externalURL" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">youtube.com/watch?v=8z00zjTdCx4\ Hate to see anyone get hurt but Lucroy was blocking the plate in my view. The league gave Marinick a two-day suspension for this. Seems harsh to me.

Quote from Traffic Jam: “The bear sat in the middle of the trail, staring at me. He wasn’t close (which is why the pic is blurry) but I saw him right away and stopped. I decided it was a good place to turn around after quickly snapping a photo. He was the second bear I saw this morning. The first one was in the overgrowth next to the trail and sauntered off when he saw me, only showing his backside. Here’s a better perspective of distance. ” Sounds like an exciting walk!

Went on a road trip this weekend to Southern Vermont with my wife. At the 'Battle of Bennington' monument I saw a guy in the parking lot that looked familiar to me. I could not quit figure out who he was so I introduced myself. It was Matthew 'Odie' Norman, trail angel and publisher of the Thru-Hiker Yearbook. First time I have met Odie. He could not have been more gracious, a great guy. appalachiantrailcafe.net/index…3872f5d2aaa448eab43fead89

LIHikers, I use a Warbonnet Blackbird and love the comfortable sleep, but I also recognize it is not for everyone. The best way to try one out would be to find a kind soul who will let you use theirs. The investment in a hammock is fairly modest, but to really be comfortable at most temperatures you want a good underquilt, top quilt and so on and that can get expensive just to find out if it works for you. There are dedicated hammock groups that sometimes have 'Meetups,' that could be a good way…

  • Hello Marymobile, Normally I would not chime in on a woman's thread, but we are a fairly small group here so I hope you do not mind me offering some advice that admittedly only comes from second hand experience. 1) Stay hydrated. I understand the more you pee the less likely a UTI will develop. 2) Consider Cranberry Juice. Well maybe juice is hard to carry on the trail, but they do sell cranberry in pill form in health food stores and I know some people swear by this. 3) My favorite way of deali…
