Quote from LIhikers: “When I bought my Subaru I actually had them remove some options I didn't want and they lowered the price accordingly. But I did have them install a trailer hitch and a dog barrier behind the rear seat. My wife thought the dog barrier was mean to the dog until I told her that in the even of an accident the dog was less likely to get injured if it wasn't flying around in the car. And the trailer hitch was for mounting a bicycle rack. ” Wow, I did not know they would do that. …

Quote from odd man out: “I heard in an interview with Carol Burnette that they filmed each episode twice and they would pick the better performance of each skit to edit together the show that was broadcast. The first show was by done the script. If that went well, Tim knew they had a version they could use so he was free to improvise on the second show. In these, poor Harvey had no clue what was coming and I guess that some of Tim's best moments were from these improvised second filmings. ” Tim …

Last Subaru we bought, we went for the most basic package we could get. The add ons in the higher packages are mostly decoration and technology crap. My wife does insist on leather seats, however. They just feel nicer to her. So we bought the base car, immediatly took it to an aftermarket car upholstery shop to get the seats covered in leather that looks identical to the factory leather. The only other add on she wanted was the rear bumper 'luggage protector' that I bought for a few bucks and pu…

  • That pesky photobombing tourist, she probably thinks it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye!

  • I hiked the Cinque Terra in 1985. At the time it was not as well known, so I pretty much had it to myself. No pass required, just a walk. Glad to see the villages still look as stunningly beautiful. For some of the hike between the towns I just cowboy camped in the Olive groves. I did get chewed out by one old Italian lady for that, so I guess stealth camping was not cool, even back then. I ate like a king along the way, and the local white wine was great. I would love to get back there someday.

Since no body in their right mind endures a flight from India to Boston for only a six-day vacation, I am guessing he has some other things he plans to do along the way. If the tickets are not booked, he might consider flying to New York where conditions should be a lot nicer in June and he can get better public transportation access to the trail.

I'm thinking it's just toooooooo far to go for a day. ” Interesting, North Conway has always been an Eastern Mountain Sports town, EMS had one of their first stores there. I guess REI is now taking them on head-to-head.

Hello Ajay, From Boston it is still a long drive to the 100 mile wilderness, so just getting there and back and jet lag will eat up much of your time. I would consider something closer to Boston. Please keep in mind that early June is prime bug season, definitely bring a head net. You could consider a section hike of the White Mountains in New Hampshire, or a section of Southern Maine, but early June can still seem like winter there, so be prepared for the cold and any kind of weather. Southern …

This is so sad and unnecessary. Unfortunately, police in most states no longer have the tools they need for the involuntary commitment of the mentally ill. This guy gave off enough warning signs that he should not have been walking our streets or trails without at least a mental health evaluation. And apparently after they let him go the first time they gave him back his machete? Really? I'm not sure what to make of that.
