Quote from jimmyjam: “Quote from Traffic Jam: “I planned to finish the FHT but temps will be in the 90’s so I’m canceling the trip. It’s supposed to be fun, right? Instead, my plan is to hike 40 miles on the AT from Fox Creek to Damascus. The shuttle is arranged. I’m bummed about the FHT but excited about the AT hike. It’s likely to be busy and I’m not used to that so have some anxiety about stuff like bathing, bodily functions, and being social. I don’t have a clue what this section is like. Th…

And I’ve ventured into dessert baking. Danger Will Robinson! Hopefully I’ll give it away, not eat it. Homemade lemon shortbread tarts and (pre-baked) cinnamon rolls.

Today’s bread...harvest grain from the bread machine. Recently, I made a basic, French bread, recipe from Julia Child and it was outstanding. And so, so simple...using only 4 ingredients, flour, yeast, salt, and water.

I took a lot of walks and bike rides on the rail trail in PA but didn’t get to hike. I really need to get out to hike. Really, really need to hike. Hoping to finish the Foothills trail this month.

“The day gained nationwide popularity in the 1980s thanks especially to advertising campaigns by beer and wine companies. Today, Cinco de Mayo generates beer sales on par with the Super Bowl.“ I can get behind beer holidays. Especially if I can sleep late the next day.

I thought it tasted sort of tangy, like limes. Then I read a description. It actually tastes like “honey maple, peaches and cream, white chocolate and a thread of minerality segues to a pepper and toasted oak finish.“ Who woulda thought?

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Does anyone even know what that commemorates?... I think it’s just an excuse to party. Anyway, the local liquor store was doing tequila tastings. I know nothing about tequila and initially declined since I was sipping a coffee, but then decided to try some. It was pretty good. I tasted two Mi Campo types, a blanco and a reposado. I think the difference between the two is the reposado is aged longer. It was my favorite so a bottle found it’s way into my cart.

  • My youngest daughter, who was never in girl scouts, is spending the summer working at a girl scout camp in NM. Oh my. It’s the same camp I attended as a kid and didn’t do very well. I was the kid that got a stomachache every day because I was homesick.

Walked 4 miles along the Ephrata to Warwick Rails to Trails. It is so beautiful here in PA. It rained a little and I had to don the rain jacket but it ended up being a beautiful, cool, breezy day. Still waiting on baby...he/she is obviously not 4/20 friendly and certainly isn’t affected by storms or the full moon! Come on baby! We’re ready to meet this new human.

^ it doesn’t take away steering control. You can still steer outside the lane if needed. Its just a slight feeling of the wheel getting stiff but it always startles me and takes some time to get used to.
