    i guess the networks give us the shows that people watch. kate and jon gosselin had twins. then they had had sextuplets. this gave us the reality show: "jon and kate plus 8" then job and kate divorced. this gave us the reality show: "kate plus 8" now the twins are off to college and the sextuplets are 14 years old. so in june we get a new reality show...     i've got the perfect car for my lifestyle. the seats fold flat which makes for a comfortable sleep at trailheads or when i drive cross country. the rear seats can also be folded up and away or removed all together. the floor is totally flat which allows someone to build more permanent living or camping arrangements if they wish. i know of a female college student who lives full time in her car. the car was marketed to 20 year olds, however 40 year olds were the age group that mostly bought the c…

  • at mountain crossings at neels gap thru hikers are given the opportunity for a pack shakedown by a store employee (who is almost certainly a former thru hiker). this is good for the hiker as many things are discarded (lighter pack!) and good for the store as many of heavy discarded items are replaced with lighter weight alternatives (sales!). one of the top items that is discarded as a result of these shake downs is bear spray.

  • you generally don't have to worry about water in georgia. having said that, the water source at woods hole shelter is usually the first to go dry and with a mid june start i wouldn't count on it running.

    the admin of the north georgia hiking facebook page that i belong just made the following post: "And... posts on this news story have blown up into fights on how to protect yourself on the trail in practically every hiking group I'm a member of." and that's why i don't belong to any of the appalachian trail "section hiker" or "thru hiker" pages.
