Here's some more pics of the hike. You can see my modified Trailstar. The field pictures are from Hog Camp Gap, a real nice camping spot with a spring. The good view shots are on top of Spy Rock which is on a short spur trail from the AT near the Priest. Sorry they didn't take any pictures of the alter or the Priest shelter. I had some trouble editing the pictures. appalachiantrailcafe.net/index…f8401b0d223970998c8f62d77appalachiantrailcafe.net/index…f8401b0d223970998c8f62d77appalachiantrailcafe…

I had been keeping a list in a notebook of all the books I read since my knee surgery in December of 2017. Today I entered them in an Excel spreadsheet to make it easier to keep track of them. 87 books! Yeah I'd rather read than watch people shooting each other on TV.

The night before my hiking buddies were to arrive, my juniper allergy decided to go into high gear. I didn't want to cancel because I was really looking forward to it and we had been weeks in planning it. So I decided if I felt bad in the morning I'd go along anyway for the first night so that I could shuttle them to the other trail head the following morning. Slingshot and Craig arrived at my house about 3pm and I told them of my sinus situation and what my plan was. So we headed west in both t…

Quote from Astro: “One thing I have started taking to baseball games this year is hot hands. Never considered taking on a hike, has anyone else? Probably not worth the weight, but might be nice to have for an emergency. ” I take a couple early and late season and all winter trips. I've used them several times. I activate them and toss down in the foot box of my quilt. Works all night and works pretty good too.

Quote from Traffic Jam: “This guy is an inspiration...he’s awesome. I don’t care how far he gets, he got off the couch and he’s a winner in my book. It takes so much courage to do what he’s doing. It’s easy to sit around feeling sorry for yourself, staying in your rut while your health declines. It’s hard to take the bull by the horns and do something about it...especially when you don’t have a clue what you’re doing. I can totally identify with him. And he does it with a smile. His laugh is con…
