While I grew up with traditional bowling and even was on our club team one year in college, I have never done candlepin or duckpin. On the other hand with raising four children, I have done a lot of skee ball at Chuckie Cheese.

Quote from chief: “This is the first i've heard of candlepin bowling, but back in the day i went bowling with some friends in baltimore. what the heck, tiny ball and tiny pins, they called it duckpins! i bowled one game and decided it was a dumb game, not as much fun as real bowling. my friends continued bowling while i drank beer and ate polish sausage with hot relish. the bowling was forgettable, but i'll never forget the heartburn i suffered that night and if i never hear another polka band i…

Quote from max.patch: “astro, you posed the original question about who -- if anyone -- the today's game era committee should put in the HOF. i don't believe you ever gave your own opinion. did you find anyone deserving on that list? ” Yeah, it was none really deserving for me. Some of them I really loved. Hershiser had a great run for a stretch (1988 a season for the ages) and Will Clark started off looking like a HOFer but career wound down too quickly. I love Davey Johnson and Lou Piniella, a…

Quote from max.patch: “baines is a puzzler; fell off the ballot after 5 years and never got more than 6% of the vote. perhaps such decisions need to be made by more than a 16 member committee. i'd put baines in the hall of really good players. ” Totally agree. If you ways DH, Edgar Martinez is much more deserving. Old Veterans Committee didn't want to let anyone in. Now probably due to some of the steroids guys getting in, the new committee willing to let all their old buddies in.

Nothing personally against Lee Smith, but no way I want him or Trevor Hoffman or even Bruce Sutter closing a game for me when Billy Wagner is available. Sabermetrically Wagner is the best HOF elgible reliever there is including all the guys already in. Now that will change once Mariano Riveria becomes elgible.

Don't normally pay any attention to the NFL, but when I saw the Dolphins (team of my youth) upset the Patriots, I though it might be worth watching the replay while I was eating. You may just want to speed ahead to the 5:40 mark in the video. Sometimes brilliant coaches still do stupid things (or perhaps they are just willing to take more risks, and sometimes they don't workout). Worth watching. msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/the-d…tackling-angle/ar-BBQIMFR

Before becoming a carpenter and general contractor my dad was a baker. So he still used to bake a lot of bread, donuts, pies, cobblers, etc.. for us. I guess that cursed me with a weakness for fresh bread. But it sure does smell and taste good.
