This is my short list, randomly: Lo Monaco’s, Branford Tolli’s, East Haven Zupardi’s, West Haven Dematteo’s/ slices, Hamden The Green Pizza Truck, mobile!!!! P&M Deli/ thick square Sicilian, Branford I will give an honorable mention to my current home town’s Alforno. It is more a sit down restaurant, but they make the closest thing to New Haven pie that I can find in this totally uneye…

    The guy who taught me the polevault was the state champ in the Javelin......he is also a Martial Arts instructor. By the time I was a Senior I jumped higher than he did. I was just a tad too slow to run the sprints, and not big enough to throw anything. But plenty fast enough, and strong enough to polevault......and the crazy part, well........I got that!!!!!!!

    I feel the same as the Elf. Many good pies in the New Haven area... many not so good. So there is no way I’m waiting in that line. I think Pepe’s is so famous because so many students leave from our 5 large colleges and that’s what they remember..... there are three good pies within walking distance of Yale. Also, I’m sure it will come as no surprise that I pole vaulted in high school.....

    Well, three weeks from my Presi walk, I woke up last week with a tender left ankle. No swelling, no redness. I have done nothing to it except hike to get ready. Monday morning I was complaining about it at work.....the boss says....”Lou, they are high mileage”.......we all laughed! Then I started to think....damn, at 61 maybe I’m not made of iron.
