Quote from odd man out: “Car camping this weekend at a NF campground. Haven't had the trailer out in a couple of years. Spent all afternoon Tuesday repairing and cleaning up after mice who had taken up residence. appalachiantrailcafe.net/index…ebea70c503336a3f9e768d3d0 ” I had mouse problems and someone told me to put bars of Irish Spring soap in my camper. I've been doing that for at least six years now and no mice, plus the camper smells "fresh as a daisy". I cut the bars in half and put them …

Ice is your best friend. 20 minutes at a time at least 4 times a day. You really can't ice it too much as long as you do 20 minutes at a time. ” Thanks, I have been driving with it for hours (until it melts), so I have the 20 minutes covered. Just unfortunately not elevated (which I am able to do now in a recliner ). ” Also apply ice cold beer as necessary.

Quote from odd man out: “As a driver, I too wish bikers would own the turn lanes. It doesn't really slow down traffic much as a bike can accelerate off the light nearly as fast as a car. It's better than when the bikers pretend to be pedestrians. I also wish they would use hand signals to indicate turning. ” I'm big on hand signals. Left turn, right turn and then there's that very special one finger one that I use when someone in a car gets too close or almost backs over me coming out their driv…

Quote from LIhikers: “Quote from Dan76: “Suggest ‘owning’ the right turn lane by positioning oneself in the center of the lane. Prior to routinely doing this, I would be squeezed into the curb by an vehicle mirror or by a trailer pulled by a right turning vehicle. I didn’t do this a while back and was brushed by the mirror of a police pickup truck. As the driver clearly violated the state law requiring 3’ of clearance for pedestrians and bicyclists, the officer and I exchanged viewpoints on the …

Quote from LIhikers: “Quote from Ewok11: “...........The problem here isn't even that they can't see me. They can. There is just a massive rift between those who bike and those who drive in this area. Many of those who drive, resent sharing the road with those who bike, so they either pretend they aren't there or intentionally cause them to fall off/wreck or otherwise impede their progress. It's sad too because there are a lot of people here who bike.......... ” It's the same thing here on Long …

What tent are you using Astro? I can't decide if I want to take my Little Trailstar and bivy at 29 oz or a more A frame tarp and bivy at 24oz. The Trailstar has a wider footprint and heavier but more room and absolutely stormproof- just don't know if I want the extra 5 ozs.

More difficult rock scrambles and decisions of where to move next for me in 5.8 miles today than my previous 1,809. But some really nice views. Did Work For Stay (WFS) at Lonsome Lake Hut. They gave me turkey and braised beef leftovers. The beef was go I got seconds. Slept on the dinning room floor and then had breakfast leftovers and swept the floor.
