Quote from LIhikers: “Yesterday I rode my bicycle to work and home with no problems. Today as I'm wheeling it across a parking lot, on my way to my local bike shop I see the rear wheel has quite a wobble. The plan was to replace the stem with an adjustable one, to raise the bars a little, but now the rear wheel needs to be trued, or possibly replaced because it's that bad. I don't remember hitting any big holes or bumps, it's a mystery to me. ” On your new bike? That doesn’t sound right. They sh…

You will do it Astro! (But it helps to go in the right direction.) Great pictures. That lady is looking at the moose like its going to charge her. And your sleeping space is really tidy.

  • Sprayed my skirt, pants, day pack, backpack, shoes, and two pair socks. Waiting for my main hiking shirt to dry then should have enough to spray it also. Hoping I don’t kill any little animals (except ticks).

Wow, that sounds painful. Did you use gaiters? On my couple of short, PCT hikes, my thought was that dirty girl gaiters were a must due to the sand/dust. They don’t totally cover the toe-end of my shoes but they do a good job of keeping out a lot of debris.

I’d love to hike the Colorado Trail. After having problems in CO and NM, I’d be most worried about the effects of altitude.

  • Today seems like a good day to do the tick treatment. Normally, i do it in the driveway but the neighbors cat has been hanging around. If i do it on the deck, will i harm my dog?

Drybones has hiked part of it. Is the son-in-law the same one who had to bail in the Smokies due to foot problems? Just curious.

Quote from odd man out: “Quote from Traffic Jam: “Yep. Getting ready for a week-long bluegrass camp and I'm very stressed about it. There will be people there from all over the world, including professionals...and I'm expected to have a lot of music memorized...they don't use sheet music. They do these mandatory things, like assign you to a group and give you 30 minutes to come up with three songs that you perform on stage. Thinking about it makes me hyperventilate. My problem is when i play wit…

Got up early and rode into the Smokies with a friend, 34 mi. Early morning riding is great as we beat the heat. I led most of the way, thinking i needed to be mindful of speed so she didnt wear out...she is older than me with less cycling experience. Lol! She got ahead of me the last 8 miles and took off. I was tuckered out but she was fresh as a daisy. It was great for me cuz i got to draft off her back wheel at the end and finished strong instead of limping into the finish. We were much faster…
