Quote from Bo Peep: “Seeing all the bait options makes me think this is way more complicated than I planned. I thought little bait...little fish. Big bait...big fish. It seems it’s not that simple. <sigh> ” TJ, fishing is like hiking. It is only as complicated as you want it to be. Or as someone else might say.... "It's just Fishin "

  • I had such a hard time eating any kind of food because of the heat on my last section hike, I'm thinking of ditching my cook set, at least for the desert section.

I thought I have been posting links to my PCT section hike Trail Journal on here, but I could not find them, so I've created this new thread in case you are interested. I have now completed three years of sections, 731 miles down, only 1829 miles to go. This is looking like an eleven year plan.... I started the hike in the middle of California, I hope to make it to Campo finally this year. Here is the beginning journal entry from (2016)... trailjournals.com/journal/entry/552752 I had already hik…

Hello Everyone, I need some help with some thru-hike logistics...appalachiantrailcafe.net/index…ed4285599a4f43d9e51b33f56 The airline is being a PIA about letting my emotional support peacock sit next to me on the flight, do you think she will be alright in my backpack in checked luggage? Also, I am wondering about proper peacock etiquette in shelters. Between my tent and my emotional support peacock I am afraid there won't be any room left in the shelter for anyone else, this won't be any probl…

Quote from Bo Peep: “All my plans are up in the air as my employment status is uncertain. My unit is being closed and the nurses may or may not be offered jobs at another facility. Although, if they go by seniority and experience, I won’t have an issue but you never know. Sadly, some of my friends and coworkers are SOL. I had vacation approved for March to finish the BMT but that may not be honored. It’s been a stressful week but things happen for a reason. If I’m laid off, I might thru hike the…

Quote from LIhikers: “Yesterday was a beautiful day here on Long Island so Kathy and I took our dog, jumped in the 1978 VW Microbus and headed to our local county park for a walk. We were on our feet for a couple hours, covering not too many miles. Then we drove over to a local Pizza place and enjoyed a nice dinner out. The whole affair was really more about spending time together, which we don't get to do much, and exercising the old VW than covering a lot of ground. ” Hey LIHikers, I'm down in…

It seems to attach to my ULA shoulder straps pretty easily. The pack came with water bottle loops on the shoulder strap that I cinched up on the umbrella. I added a carabiner on the umbrella handle that I attached to my sternum strap to keep it from slipping down. I will need to test this out on a hike.

On my PCT section hikes the sun has been killing my delicate freckled complexion. That is why I was so excited to get the mail this morning, my Liteflex Chrome Hiking Umbrella has arrived. That's right, I've become one of those umbrella people. Can't wait to try it out. Now, if I just need to figure out how I am going to attach it to my backpack.

Just wanted to let people know that Pilgrim Skyface is seems to be upping his deranged game. The other day I received an email from him where he impersonated Miss. Janet. I am concerned about just how far this person will take his sick obsession. Here is a screen shot from Miss. Janet's FB page (Miss. Janet asked that this information be shared, so here it is.). Hopefully the photos will help you identify him in case you ever run into him out on the trail. appalachiantrailcafe.net/index…ed428559…

  • Just had to interject that this is one of the things I like about the AT Cafe over other options... people here can have a grownup conversation about firearms without it devolving into name calling or the thread being shut down to protect our delicate sensibilities.

  • I think WOO should come to the annual MLK weekend gathering and give us all a demonstration of parched corn and other interesting bushcraft.
