BSP Question
PostQuote from odd man out: “Quote from LIhikers: “OMO Sounds like a good plan to me. Know that the shuttle from the hostel doesn't get there particularly early. I think we got there somewhere around 9-10 AM. I've never been on the Abol trail so can't comment on that. ” Good to know. if the weather is good I would camp the night before to get an early start, I think. ” That's what we did to be able to get an early start up Hunt trail.

Quote from odd man out: “Quote from LIhikers: “I'm thinking ahead to our planned LASH of the southern half of the AT in 2024. I'm wondering if alcohol is readily available, south of Harper's Ferry, for stove fuel or would I be better off switching to a canister stove? ” also interested. I've always used alcohol, but not yet hiked long enough to need to refuel enroute. ” We've always used alcohol for all 3 season hikes. We never had problems finding fuel in outfitters, hardware stores, auto parts…

I thought the hundred mile wilderness in Maine was a special place. I don't know why but it was a place that had my attention much more than any other section. Maybe it was the natural beauty, maybe because it was our last section of the northern half of the AT, or maybe it was something else, who knows.

PostI didn't get in a walk today because I did a bicycle ride instead. I had to do some errands and the bicycle was my transportation instead of driving the car.

Hiking & Biking
PostYesterday was my first bicycle ride since the doctor gave me the Ok to start easy activities. Boy am I out of shape! There was only 1 real hill on our route to the post office and I had to walk up the last half of it. Even on the flats I had to use low gears to keep the force on my leg low. I have a feeling this is going to be a long recovery.

Took a walk today
PostToday's walk I'm estimating to be about 2 miles, through my local residential neighborhood. I guess I really should put some app on my phone to know and keep track of mileage. Tomorrow I may give my bicycle a try, or not.

Took a walk today
PostKathy and I drove down to the business district of our town. I'm going to guess we walked around 3ish miles walking up and down streets looking at holiday decorations on the store windows. The weather was nice and everybody on the streets seemed to be in a good mood. As enjoyable as it was it's just the start of my new year resolution to walk every day.
